John L. Seals, Sr.

Mr. John L. Seals Sr., age 77 of Dongola, died at 2:40 am Sunday, September 23, 2012 at his home in Dongola. He was born on December 11, 1934 in Elco, Illinois, the son of Alfred Lee and Esther E. (Sims) Seals. He was married to Clara E. Sivia on August 27, 1956 in Charleston, Missouri Mr. Seals is survived by his wife Clara of Dongola; eight children, Emma (Don) Doerr of Gainesville, Florida, Teresa (Don) Gay of Metropolis, Illinois, Ruth (Johnny) New of Anna, Dale Cruse of Anna, Donna (Don) Sheffer of Marion, Wanda (Tim) Charles of Jonesboro, Johnnie Seals Jr. of Vienna, Ronnie (Michelle) Seals of Dongola; one brother, Robert McHarry of Tamms; one sister, Joyce Hazelwood of Little Rock, Arkansas; a special grandson and "fishing buddy", Trei; twenty grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends, as well as his caregivers, Loretta Dishinger and Anthony Kasper. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Alfred Seals. He was mostly known as "Junk Man", his CB name and was an avid fisherman. He was employed as an automobile mechanic and auto body specialist. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Funeral services for Mr. John L. Seals Sr. will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. LaRue Parr officiating. Interment will be in the Mission Chapel Cemetery near Dongola with Military honors conducted at the graveside by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the VFW of Anna and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 11:00 am until the funeral hour at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
