John C. "Johnny" Edwards

John C. "Johnny" Edwards, age 76 of Anna, died Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born August 7, 1945 in Detroit, MI., the son of Carl and Marie (Bowe) Edwards. He married his high-school sweetheart, Edith "Katie" McHughes on January 9, 1965 in Anna. Johnny is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Katie Edwards of Anna; two sons, Brian Edwards and Anthony (Cindy) Edwards all of Anna; four grandchildren, Christopher, Jordan, Chandler and Abbie Edwards; one great-grandchild, Waylon Edwards; sister, Mary (Reiner) Lenigk of San Francisco, CA; two brothers, Quinn and Jason Edwards both of Anna; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two nieces, Sarah Lenigk and Jackie Edwards. Johnny honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1964-1966. He was a life member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 Auxiliary of the V.F.W. in Anna, the American Legion Post 0344 in Anna and the Anna Masonic Lodge. He worked his career as a heavy equipment operator for Local 318 Operating Engineers and was retired from E.T. Simonds. Johnny loved music, and many years ago he sang and played guitar in his band, the Sound of Sundown. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Interment will be in the McGinnis Cemetery in Anna. Friends may call after 12:00 noon and until the service hour at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home, Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Those attending are required to wear a mask or face covering.
