John LeRoy "Cougar" Clendenin, Jr.

    John LeRoy “Cougar” Clendenin, Jr., age 62 of Grand Tower, passed away peacefully at 2:15 pm Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with his family by his side. He was born on October 23, 1963, in Anna, the son of John and Ada (Craft) Clendenin. He married Stacey Waller on May 11, 2011 in Union County.

    John is survived by his wife Stacey Clendenin; stepsons, Mason, Logan and Conner; sister, Lori (Scott) Trammel of Harrisburg; nieces, Jessica (Sherman) Baker of Anna and Brandy (Kent) Toler of Ware; nephews, Austin Cavaness and Devin Clendenin of Grand Tower; great nieces and nephews, other relatives, many friends and co-workers and his beloved dog Cookie. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Densil Clendenin.

    John’s wishes were to be cremated. He will be laid to rest with his parents and brother at St. Johns Cemetery west of Dongola. Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.
