John E. Clark, Sr.

Mr. John E. Clark, Sr., age 65 of Anna and formerly of Cobden for many years, passed away at his home in Anna at 4:11 pm, Tuesday, June 19, 2012. John was born on December 22, 1946 in Anna, the son of Hubert Richard and Martha Evelene (Clutts) Clark. He married Linda S. Verbeck on January 14, 1967 in Makanda. John is survived by his wife Linda Clark of Anna; two children, John E. (Tammy) Clark Jr. of Cobden and Lisa (Shane) Murray of Anna; five grandchildren, Stephanie (David) Gibson, Sarah Clark (Caleb Burton), Beth Murray (Joe Parker), Jonathan Murray (Chelsea McCraven) and Kimberly Murray; two great-grandchildren, Camie Jo Clark-Blake and Mariah Gibson; two brothers, Mart (Lucy) Clark of Cobden and Robert (Marty) Clark of Lick Creek and one sister, Stella (Charles) Jackson of Cobden; two sister-in-laws, Alice Miller and Joyce Peterman both of Mascoutah; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charley Clark; a great-nephew, Christopher Alsip; two great-nieces, Kailey Jackson and Kristlyn Evans; his father and mother-in-law, Bill and Ethel Peterman; an uncle, Mart Clutts Sr., and one aunt, Lorene Lingle. John was the founder and owner of Clark & Sons Salvage Company in Cobden and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. The family would like to give a special thank you to TIP Hospice. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Bethel Baptist Church east of Cobden with Rev. Terry Kern, Rev. Roger Glasco, Rev. Doug Bridgeman and Jeff Starr officiating. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 until 8:00 pm on Friday at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
