Joe Rumfelt, age 89 of Jonesboro, died Thursday, May 26 surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 21, 1932 in Wolf Lake, the son of Cyrus Sylvester and Bessie Marie (Kenny) Rumfelt. He married Doris Treece on June 15, 1957 in Corinth, MS.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Doris Rumfelt; daughter, Carla (Scott) Harvel all of Jonesboro; daughter in law, Brenda Rumfelt of Alto Pass; four grandchildren, Jared (Katie) Rumfelt, Brandon (Ashley) Harvel, Joseph Morrison, Alaina (Tyler) Johnson; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joey Alan Rumfelt; and four brothers.
Joe was a member of the Cape Cowboy Church for many years. He farmed all his life and in his spare time was a Teamster and drove for ABF for 24 years. Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid baseball and basketball enthusiast.
Joe honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during Korea.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor Jim Matthews officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. and the Scott Air Force Honor Guard Team. Friends may call after 12:00 noon and until the service hour at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital or The Wounded Warrior Project. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
