Joann M. (Albrecht) Shaffar

JoAnn M. Shaffar, age 76 of Anna, died Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Union County Hospital in Anna. She was born December 31, 1945 in Waukegan, the daughter of Thomas John and Angela Josephine (Bockhaut) Albrecht.

JoAnn is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly Shaffar of Anna and Melissa Shaffar of Wood River; grandchildren, Jessica (Eli) Good, Sophie Shaffar (Josh Valdez), Marc Shaffar (Kevin Pecor), Kat Gerharz (Rhea Siders), Zacharia Shaffar (Kiersten Niethe), Faith Gerharz; great-grandchildren, Alice, Myles, Aria, Zain, Oliver, Avery and Jace; brother, Garon Albrecht Sr. (Arlene Zajdel); two adopted daughters, Tamara (Donald) Sherfy and Stephanie (Trent) Tollison; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Gray; brothers, Timothy and Thomas Albrecht.

JoAnn worked twenty years as a switchboard operator for International Harvester in Libertyville. She was a socialite who loved to dance and sing and will always be remembered for her boisterous laugh. She loved doing puzzles and watching HGTV. JoAnn and her friends spent many days enjoying each other's company, telling stories and making memories. She was a rock for so many people because of how strong and resilient of a woman she was to many.
