Joan Hartline Gibson, age 94 of Anna, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 25, 1931, in Cobden, the daughter of Edward H. "Doc" and Vivian Lee (Bloodworth) Hartline. She married Floyd Gibson on June 21, 1948, in Alto Pass. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1992.
Joan is survived by her children, Barbara Kay Neace and Floyd Dewayne (Mary) Gibson; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Gibson; grandchildren, Jonathan Neace, Christopher (Teresa) Gibson, Marjorie Jo Darnell, Angela (Kenny) Perry, Michael A. Gibson, Keith Gibson, Lindsey (Jerry) Weddle, Darin (Katie) Gibson, Donald Gibson and friend Alecia, and David (Jennifer) Gibson; great-grandchildren, Ethan (Kristina) Perry, Jordan, Karson, Mariah, Caleb, Landen, Cameron, Rynnleigh, Raelynn, Brady and Kayson Gibson, Jaziah, Blake, and Fiona Weddle, Aizlin and Austin; sisters, Patricia Boner and Linda Johnson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Nancy Joan Gibson; son, Rev. Michael G. Gibson; son-in-law, Rev. John D. Neace; and siblings, Betty Bess, Margie Henson, Bobby Hartline, Shirley Hartline and Richard Hartline.
Joan was of the Pentecost faith. She was a wonderful, Christian woman who loved her Lord and Savior. She loved working in the churches she attended, making pies and chicken and dumplings to help keep the church going. She served on the Cypress Revival Center Church board and was the treasurer for three years. She worked at Choate Mental Health and Development Center for three years as well as working for many local vegetable farmers but made a living for her family working at the Florsheim Shoe Factory for 25 years, retiring in 1988
Funeral services for Joan Gibson will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Pastor Kenny Perry, Ethan Perry and Pastor Jonathan Neace officiating. Interment will follow in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until the service time at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can can be made to the First Church of God in Benton. Envelopes will be available at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home.
