Jim Tucker, age 82 of Mt. Pleasant; passed away holding the hand of his loving wife of 62 years with his children near by on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. He was born February 11, 1942 in East St. Louis, IL the son of Claude Lester and Tressie (Davis) Tucker. He married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Halterman on October 5, 1962 in Dongola.
Jim is survived by his wife, Brenda Tucker of Mt. Pleasant; son, Mark and wife Terry Tucker of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Christina Tucker-Higgins and husband Patrick of Jackson, MO; six grandchildren, Dylan Tucker, Dalton Tucker, Andrew Brumleve, Allan and wife Seirra Brumleve, Abigail Brumleve and Cody Gulledge; two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Cade Brumleve and one more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Victor and Bobbie Tucker and his loyal companion, Sasha.
Jim has had a fascination with aviation from an early age, which led him to enlist in the United States Air Force. He honorably served his country from 1959 to 1967 primarily as an aircraft mechanic. He was a skilled mechanic and could fix anything Brenda could break. He worked with several mechanic shops before retiring from Ecker Tire on the Jonesboro Hill. Jim's passion for flying led into building and constructing radio controlled aircrafts in his spare time.
Memorial visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2024 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Scott Air Force Base Military Honor Team at 2:00 p.m. at Campground Cemetery in Anna. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to St. Jude or Mercy Southeast Cancer Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
