Jim "John" M. Smith

Jim "John" Smith, 83 of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 in Cobden. He was born on October 18, 1936 in Salem, IL to Sam and Gladys (Phelps) Smith. He married Betty J. Shepard on May 9, 1959. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2008.John is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Charles) Clements; his grandchildren, Floyd, Stephen, Gene and Katie Smith and Jimmy Dodson; 13 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.He was preceded in death his wife, parents; 2 sons, Samuel and Scott Smith and his siblings.He had worked as a farm hand, primarily at local orchards.Private graveside services and interment will take place at Casper Cemetery in Anna.Memorial contributions can be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
