Jessie Lee Aldridge

Jessie Lee Aldridge, age 93 of Cobden, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. He was born on April 19, 1929 in Cobden, the son of Jesse and Edna (Sheppard) Aldridge. He married Shirley Yates on December 27, 1952 in Cobden.

Jessie is survived by his wife, Shirley Aldridge of Cobden; one son, Gregory (Kim) Aldridge of Cobden; two grandchildren, Ryan (Melanie) Aldridge of Carbondale and Becca (Rowdy) Moore of Pomona; four great-grandchildren, Kenzie and Resa Aldridge and Raegan and Rynlee Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Edna Aldridge and a brother, Dale Aldridge.

Jessie was the self-proclaimed "King of Water Valley". He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Cobden. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was an aircraft mechanic and retired from Southern Illinois University after more than 30 years.

Funeral services for Jessie Aldridge will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Pastor Gregory Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at the Cobden Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.  I lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Veteran's Honor Flight. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
