Jerry D. Abernathy

Mr. Jerry D. Abernathy, age 55 of Jonesboro, died at 3:56 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 in the Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born March 5, 1959 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the son of Dean and Margie Farmer Abernathy. He married Sharon Walker on December 29, 2000 in Jonesboro. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Abernathy of Jonesboro; one son, Joshua Abernathy of Monette, AR, one daughter, Jennifer Abernathy Ashabranner of De Funiak Springs, FL; Sharon's children, Zach Cobb of Wolf Lake, Cindy (Phillip) Cobb-King of Buncombe; five grandchildren, Hunter Ray Ashabranner and Victoria Starr Ashabranner, Cody Wheaton, Clayton and Chase Pearl; mother, Margie Abernathy of Wolf Lake; one sister, Pam Abernathy-Marr of Wolf Lake; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Gary Abernathy and Jimmy Farmer. Jerry worked many years as a mechanic in the trucking industry. On behalf of the family they would like to extend appreciation to everyone who has helped during Jerry's illness, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends. According to his wishes, Mr. Jerry D. Abernathy will be cremated. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
