Jeffrey Bennett

Jeffrey Bennett, age 65 of Alto Pass, passed away October 25, 2023 at his home. He was born December 14, 1957 in Red Bud, the son of William Thomas and Esther Evelyn (Hickam) Marks.

He is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Crystal) Bennett and Kimberly Bennet, both of Villa Rica, Georgia; grandchildren, Bella, Joshua, and Sierra Bennett, Destiny, Cory, and Eli Blalock; siblings, Richard (Mary Jane) Bennett of Cobden, Marilyn (Bill) Vernon of Anna, Valerie Spurlock of Johnston City, and Daniel Bennett of Cobden; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Bennett.

Jeffrey was a jack of all trades; he could fix anything. He was a 1976 Appleknocker and voted the most outstanding point guard in the State of Illinois that season. Jeffrey always loved climbing trees, later spending his working life as a tree trimmer as well as operating heavy equipment for Hickam Excavating.

A celebration of life for Jeffrey Bennett will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church fellowship hall.
