Mrs. Jean Barnes McCarty Fisher, age 87, formerly of Anna, Illinois, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2014 in Round Rock, Texas. Jean was born July 17,1927 in Carbondale, Illinois to Thomas Elmer and Beulah Pearl Barnes. She was a war wife during the Korean war, living in Japan for a year and a half with a young daughter and one on the way until her husband, 1st Lt. Don Allmon was killed. She returned to the states and lived in Carbondale. She was a beautiful woman and modeled frequently for the Alyce Fly Shop in Carbondale. Jean married Hal McCarty, a well respected man in the community, and was a help to him with their business, McCarty Funeral Home, until Hal's death in 1970. She was a wonderful cook and was once featured in the Southern Illinoisan for her triple layered chocolate cake. She was a great entertainer and hosted many dinner parties in her home. She was an avid bridge player, which allowed her to make friends wherever she lived. She married Glen Rioux and moved to Hilton Head Island, SC. After a lengthy illness with Parkinson's disease, she was widowed once again. She later married Bob Fisher and they traveled the world. After a brief illness, Bob passed away in 2012. Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Anna for many years and served as President of the Women's Association. Jean is survived by daughters, Anne McCarty Moore and Patty McCarty(Larry) Austin; son, Hal (Katherine) McCarty; grandchildren, Courtney (Jeff) Ray, Mandy (Daniel) Page, Tara (Paul) Haas, Sarah Hilley, Caitlin (Billy) Charboneau, Jared McCarty, Lauren (Mike) Piccione, Tyler McCarty, Lindsay McCarty and great grandchildren; Megan and Sydney Ray, Bailee and Austin Hilley, Avery and Drew Page, Trey and Halle Haas, and Jeffrey Piccione; nephews, Jon (Joyce) Lutz, whom she loved like a son; Mike and Tom Marx, Don and Scott Barnes and niece, Julie Azbell. In addition to her to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husbands, granddaughter, Alyssa McCarty; great-grandson, Maddox Gabriel Haas; sisters, Elizabeth Hallagan and Margaret Marx, and brother, Tom Barnes. She had many friends in Anna who passed before her. Memorial services for Mrs. Jean Barnes McCarty Fisher will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Jonathan Whitley officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the services hour at 1:00 on Monday December 15, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
