Janice Elaine Peavler

Mrs. Janice Elaine Peavler, age 70 of Jonesboro, died at 9:40 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014 at her home. She was born April 6, 1944 in West Frankfort, the daughter of John Dwight and Emma Effie Wharry Gray. She married Donald E. Peavler on March 28, 1964 in Anna. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2002. Janice is survived by her daughter, Victoria Stout of Jonesboro; son, Scott Peavler of Marion; two grandchildren, Alexa Nicole Peavler and Erin Renee Stout; one sister, Brenda Sue Conway of Andrews, TX; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Donald E. Peavler. Janice worked most of her career as a Registered Nurse for the State of Illinois, at Choate Mental Health and the Department of Public Health. She was a friend to many and had a heart of gold. She had a zest for life and a humorous personality, she loved to laugh, travel and go on cruises. Janice was involved with the Serenity Retreat Leagues. Funeral services for Mrs. Janice Elaine Peavler will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Bill Littrell officiating, cremation will follow. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
