Jan Inman, age 82 of Cobden, died Friday, December 23, 2022 at his home. He was born November 22, 1940 in Cobden, the son of Forest Harold and Geraldine May (Fischer) Inman.
Jan is survived by his son, Douglas Inman and daughter, Cassandra (Gary) Sweitzer all of Cobden; five grandchildren, Nora Inman, Devyn Inman, Alexander Inman, Theron Sweitzer and Lauren Sweitzer; former wife, Janice Inman of Cobden; brother, Patrick (Sharon) Inman of Blanco, TX; sister, Maribeth Smith of Cobden; sister-in-law, Melba Inman of Cobden; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Jeffrey Inman; two brothers, Stephen and Michael Inman; and a brother in law, Donovan Smith.
Jan proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was part of the 101st Airborne Division. He was a retired millwright craftsman after working many years in the trade. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events, watching horseracing and tending to his vegetable garden. Jan never met a stranger, he loved sharing stories and spending time with his nephews, Danny and Darrin. He will be deeply missed.
Memorial funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Davy and Danny Miller officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honor Team of Marion. Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
