Mr. James L. Modglin, age 88 of Anna, died at 7:30 am, Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the St. Sophia Health & Rehab Center in Florissant, MO. He was born on March 26, 1923 in Ware, the son of Robert and Maude Elsie Lee Modglin. He married Ruth Rendleman on March 8, 1946; she preceded him in death on August 14, 1995. Survivors include one daughter, Pamela Ruth and husband Gerald Powers White II of Huntsville, AL; two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Janet) White of Austin, TX, Anthony (Ronna) White of San Diego, CA; three great-grandchildren, Anna L. White of San Diego, CA, Noah B White of Austin, TX and Natalie E. White of Austin, TX; one sister-in-law, Joan (Kenneth) Mueller of Anna, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; his parents; three brothers, Edward, Robert and Ralph Modglin. James attended the Lutheran Church in Dothan, AL for many years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee and retired after 27 years as a Chief Petty Officer. After his Naval career he worked for the Civil Service in Ft. Rucker, AL. He was a member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of Anna and a lifetime member of D.A.V. Cape Girardeau, Missouri chapter. Graveside funeral services for Mr. James L. Modglin will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the Jonesboro Cemetery with the VFW Chaplain officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery with the Military Honors being conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post # 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's local VFW post. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery and at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna
