Mr. James H. "Jimmy" Morrison, age 46 of Anna, died at 4:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 in the Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born October 28, 1967 in Carbondale, the son of Gary and Janet Brewer Morrison. Jimmy is survived by his parents, Gary and Janet Morrison of Goreville; son, Joseph Morrison; daughter, Alaina Morrison both of Jonesboro; loving partner of many years, Denise Craig of Anna; sister and brother in law, Annett and Wade Pritchett of Goreville; brother, John and Cynthia Morrison of Goreville; several nieces and nephews, Gary William, Amanda, Clara Machelle, Jessica, Dylan, Summer, Lane, Leighton, Ashley, Brandi, and Knox; special uncle, John Brewer, Aunt Karen Boner; cousins, Mindy and Andy; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; brother in law, Joey; one uncle, Jerry and one cousin, Eric. Jimmy was an amazing athlete he shared his God given gift throughout his high school years at A.J.C.H.S. He went on to be drafted in the 10th round as a professional pitcher for the Boston Red Sox in June of 1986 at the age of 18. Jimmy played for the Boston Red Sox Minor league from 1986 to 1992, during his last season he was a member of the Major League roster. He was a lifetime member of the Major League Baseball Association, Professional Baseball League, the First Christian Church in Anna, the Iron Workers Local 782, and served as a Trustee at the Anna VFW. He worked as an Iron Worker for many years, and earned the name "Big Jim" by his fellow brothers in the Iron Workers Union. Jimmy was a sports enthusiast; he loved watching baseball, basketball and football with his friends. He had a competitive spirit and loved to share it as he often could be found playing a round of golf at the local golf courses. He was a strong supporter in his home town of Anna and was always willing to help those in need. He loved his four legged furry babies, Roscoe, Larry and Cujo. Most of all Jimmy was a dedicated and caring father that loved his children dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. They were his world and everyone knew it, he will be missed by many family and friends. Funeral services for Mr. James H. "Jimmy" Morrison will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment will be in the Busby Cemetery in Goreville. Friends may call from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
