James Phillip Gibbs

Mr. James Phillip Gibbs, age 71, of Dongola, died at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at his home in Dongola. He was born December 17, 1939 in Murray, KY, the son of Joe Edd and Virginia Elizabeth James Gibbs. He was married to his sweetheart of over 50 years, Mary Louise Rixon. James is survived by his wife, Mary Gibbs of Dongola; one daughter, Susan (Kevin) Burris of Pinkeyville; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Rebeccah, and Joey Burris; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. James proudly served our Country in the U. S. Navy from 1957 to 1979. He was a member of the Carroll P. Foster Post # 3455 of the VFW in Anna; the Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts and the Order of the Arrow. Funeral services for Mr. James Phillip Gibbs will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. LaRue Parr officiating. Interment will be in the Big Creek Cemetery. Military funeral honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Carroll P. Foster Post # 3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team in Marion.
