Jack R. Sherwin

Jack R. Sherwin, age 79 of Anna, formerly of Chicago, died at 7:12 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 in the Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born June 1, 1939 in Chicago, the son of Louis Delwin and Mary L. (Valencic) Sherwin. He married Susan A. Stefanowicz on July 12, 1975 in Chicago. Jack is survived by his loving wife Susan Sherwin of Anna; mother, Mary L. Sherwin of Morris; brothers, William D. (Joyce) Sherwin of Claypool, IN, Steven L. (Anne) Sherwin of Naperville, Robert M. Sherwin of Palm Beach, CA; two sisters in law, Marianne and Joanne; special friend, James Mott of Colorado; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Delwin Sherwin; special friend, Thomas Fitzgerald. Jack served in the Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. He worked for the Chicago Police Department from 1962 to 1996, where he was a detective for over thirty-four years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anna. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He served as a Grand Knight, District Deputy and Faithful Navigator. Funeral Mass for Jack R. Sherwin will be held at10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anna with Father Federico Higuera officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster VFW Post #3455 of Anna and the United States Marine Corps Funeral Honor Detail. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the church and the funeral home.
