Jack Davie Sensmeier, age 80, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, IN with his family by his side. He was born on April 28, 1944 to Clifton and Antoinette Sensmeier in Anna, IL. Jack married Martha Sensmeier on December 31, 1999.
Jack is survived by his wife, Martha Sensmeier; son, Scott Sensmeier; daughter, Janet (David) Childers; grandchildren, Grace (Cody Gwaltney) Schroeder, William Sensmeier, Olivia (Kyle Clover) Schroeder, and Emma Sensmeier; sister, Karen (Charles) Cutrell; step-children, Shelly (Tom) Pearl, and Mindy Keene; step-grandchildren, Kamryn Glasco, Kacey Pearl, Princeton Keene, and Paisley Keene; nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Julie Christine Sensmeier.
Jack graduated from Cobden High School in 1962. He served his country as 2nd Lieutenant of the National Guard for many years. He had a long career in construction, owning his own construction business. Along side his construction business, he also owned a lumberyard and farmed beef cattle. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved being outdoors. After retiring, if he wasn't found outside working in his yard, you could find him in his shed working on various woodworking projects or having coffee each morning with his gang at Kiki's. He loved to travel and he and his wife Martha went many miles on motorcycle rides or enjoying time during the winter months in Florida. For years, Jack was a member of the Cobden Lions Club, AJ Elks Lodge 1641, and Cobden Presbyterian Church.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2024, at the Anna Cemetery with Rev. Doug Bridgeman officiating. Interment will follow. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honor Team of Marion. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery and encouraged to bring a lawn chair. Following the graveside service, there will be a luncheon at Moose Lodge 1346 in Anna. Everyone is invited to come have fellowship and share memories of Jack.
