On Saturday, October 28, 2017 Jackie Lee Jerrell 78 of Lick Creek, went home to Jesus. He was surrounded by his family, friends and staff from Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born September 21, 1939 in Mounds, the son of Roscoe Minor and Martha (Lindsey) Jerrell. He married Geloria Richards on June 1, 1958 in Pulaski. He left behind his loving wife of fifty nine years, Geloria Jerrell of Lick Creek, their four children, Ricky Jerrell of Lick Creek, Pam (Stan) Peeler of Anna, Tonya McKee of Marion and Shawn (Crystal) Jerrell of Jonesboro; mother, Martha Jerrell of Lick Creek; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Peggy) Jerrell of Cobden and Dennis Jerrell of Tampa, FL; five sisters-in-law, Betty (Del) Mowery of Anna, Kathie (Garry) Trexler of Franklin, TN, Lori (Rodney) Tite of Ullin, Susie Richards of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Shirley (Jim) Huey of Portland, IN; many nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his father, granddaughter, Kristi Jerrell, great grandson, Cain Williams-Jerrell and son in law, Larry McKee. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army. His family owned the IGA in Anna and Pulaski for many years. He started working at a very early age, riding along with his father in his food truck traveling and trading goods. After closing the store, he and his wife worked together on commercial food equipment for Walmart. For some time they traveled three states covering 203 stores. Jack worked up until recently when his health began to decline. Jack enjoyed drag racing, and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a pilot and loved flying his plane. In his spare time he was a craftsman in woodworking, he made many different pieces and would give them to his family. Jack loved his family, spending time with them was very important. He taught his children and grandchildren strong work ethics and life skills they all appreciate today. Funeral services for Jack L. Jerrell will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in the Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna with Kim Capel and Brother Darrell Williams officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Hall Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Military Honor Team of Marion. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in the Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna. In lieu of flowers the family are asking for donations to be made to the Anna Heights Bus Fund, so that others may be lead to Jesus Christ. It was Jack's last request that his family, friends and all of mankind come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and join him in Heaven.
