Ira Tripp passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on Saturday, November 14, 2020.Ira was born in Muncie, Indiana, June 10, 1967. He was the son of Ira Dugan and Linda Irene Tripp. His family moved back to southern Illinois when he was five. Ira graduated from Anna Jonesboro Community High School in 1985. Ira loved working on the family farm in his teenage years. When he was 19 he joined IBEW Local 702 and for the first 18 years of his career he worked in outside telephone construction. In 2005 he began working at Southern Illinois University Grounds Department through the apprenticeship program with Laborer's Local 773 and most recently returned to IBEW at SIU Telephone Service. Ira was a member of the IBEW Local 702, Laborer's Local 773, former member of the Lick Creek School Foundation Board, and Civil Service Council at Southern Illinois University. He also served ten years on the Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative Nominating Committee. He was a life long life member of the SIU Alumni Association. Ira had served for several years as President of the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery Board. Ira accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a child at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He reaffirmed that commitment several years later and was baptized at Anna Heights Baptist Church. Ira loved the Lord and he loved people. He brought joy to those around him. Ira was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Ira and Lisa Middleton Tripp were united in marriage at Anna Heights Baptist Church on March 21, 1987. Ira is survived by his wife, Lisa and son Michael Glenn. Also, his father, Ira Dugan Tripp, Sr., and brother and sister-in-law, Dustin and Adrienne Tripp their children, Logan and Lexi Tripp, Madi Hartline and Kylie Tripp and great nephew Zeke Tripp, son of Logan Tripp. Also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Russell and Ann Middleton, sister-in-law Sheila Middleton and brother-in-law Alan Middleton, niece Jessica Middleton and her son Cameron. Uncle Mike Moss and wife Lannie, Uncle Charles Tripp and special Aunt Mary Howell, several cousins including Shelli Herman, Terri Carter, Matthew and Joshua Tripp along with many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Irene Tripp and his grandparents, Glenn and Iragene Tripp and Dan and Mable Moss. Funeral services for Ira D. Tripp, Jr. will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2020 Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 7240 Wing Hill Road, Cobden, IL 62920 with Doug Bridgeman and Scott Harner officiating. Friends may gather from 12:00pm until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m. at the church. At the request of the family, masks and social distancing will be mandatory.
