Ira Junior "Jod" Mccommons

Mr. Ira Junior "Jod" McCommons, age 91 of Dongola, died at 3:54 pm Thursday, February 7, 2013 at his home. He was born on November 11, 1921 in Mill Creek, the son of Ira Otis and Alice Belle (Holshouser) McCommons. Jod married Betty June Hileman on November 8, 1941 in Jackson, MO. Jod is survived by a son, Joe D. and his wife Bonnie Dunn McCommons of Dongola; six grandchildren, Scott McCommons, Johnna McCommons, Keith McCommons, Laray Moake, Bruce McCommons and Mandy McCommons; eleven great-grandchildren, Kayla, Hunter, Jonhas, Autumn, Austin, Ashtyn, Cale, Blaine, Bryson, Allen and Kinsey and three great-great-grandchildren. Jod was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Alice McCommons; his wife, Betty June McCommons; one son, Donnie McCommons; an infant sister, Maye McCommons; one brother, Van Curtis McCommons and two half sisters, Gertie Brown and Verta Graham. Jod was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church and he was also a member of the Odd Fellows of Jonesboro. After 36 years of service Jod retired from the Florsheim Shoe Factory in Anna. Funeral services for Mr. Ira "Jod" McCommons will be conducted at 12:00 pm Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Friends may call on Monday, February 11 from 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 12:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Cemetery. Memorial envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
