Mr. Howard King, age 97 of Anna, died at 5:42 am, Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Marble Hill, MO. He was born on July 26, 1917 in Eddyville, the son of J.E. and Alva (Morse) King. He was united in marriage to Faye Rose on July 17, 1943 in Harrisburg. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2003. Howard is survived by one daughter, Donna Woolsey of Jackson, MO; three grandchildren, Terry (Elizabeth) Campbell of Jackson, MO, Julie Campbell-Sims of Marion and Chris Campbell of Millcreek; three great-grandchildren, David Carter II, Dylan Sims and Christopher Michael Campbell; two nephews, Phil King of Waverly and Larry King of Golconda; one niece, Carmen Ledbetter of Waterloo, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded by his parents; wife, Faye King and two brothers, Lester and Darrell King. Howard served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He attended the Oasis of Grace Church in Anna. Howard enjoyed hunting and running his beagle dogs. He was retired from Choate Mental Health after serving many years on their fire department. After retirement Howard worked as the Union County Animal Control officer for several years. Funeral services for Mr. Howard King will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Billy Carter officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery in Ozark, IL. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion.
