Mrs. Helen M. Hamilton, age of 91, of Cobden, our loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away at 7:00 A.M. Tuesday September 21, 2010 at the Union County Nursing Home. She was born December 28, 1918 in Cobden, the daughter of Fred and Mary Sweitzer Basler. She married Clifford Hamilton on January 12, 1940 in Cobden. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1969.Helen is survived by her three daughters, Margie (Bernie) Ginsburg of Greenville, KY, Glenda (John) Palazzolo of Overland Park, KS, and Rita (David) Belcher of Anna; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Kevin) McCormick of Laguna Niguel, CA, Johnnie (Stacey) Palazzolo of St. Petersburg, FL, Stacy Moreano of Kansas City, MO, Brad (Nicole) Ginsburg of Brandon, FL, Sean (Lyndsay) Ginsburg of Greenville, KY, Kelle Rich of Cobden, and Matthew (Kristen) Ahlberg of Cobden; 1 sister, Alma Medlen of Carterville, IL; 8 great grandchildren, Alexandria, Kip, Valerie, Aidan, Dylan, Madelyn, Tristan, and Kenton; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford; 2 sisters, Margaret Brumleve and Frances Meridith; and 4 brothers, Roy, Raymond, Herb, and Alfred Basler. Helen was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cobden and was a member of the St. Joseph's Altar Sodality. She worked at Choate Mental Health Center for many years and retired in 1980. She treasured her family, friends and her Catholic faith and was a beacon of Christ's love to all who encountered her. The family gives their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Cerny and the loving caregivers at the Union County Nursing Home in Anna. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday September 24, 2010 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cobden with Father Federico Higuera officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Cobden. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. and until the funeral hour at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cobden on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the Church and at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
