Helen C. Garner

Mrs. Helen C. Garner, age 89 of Anna, died at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at her home. She was born June 2, 1925 in Union County, the daughter of Everett Brady and Martha Jane Smith Caraker. She married Carl L. Garner on August 24, 1946 in Piggott, AR. He preceded her in death after 56 years of marriage on August 2, 2002. Helen is survived by her nieces and nephews, Brenda (Paul) Sadler of Dongola, Cheryl (Larry) Jaymes of Wamego, KS, Terry (Billie) Henderson of Cobden, Bob (Betty) Carker of Anna, Donna Sadler of Jonesboro, Glenda (Larry) Koeller of Winslow, IL; a host great nieces and nephews; cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl L. Garner; two sisters, LaVada Henderson and Zelma Yates; one brother, Curtis Caraker. Helen was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of the Anna V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was retired from the Florsheim Shoe Company in Anna after 40 years of service. Funeral services for Mrs. Helen C. Garner will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Tim and Paul Sadler officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Pall bearers will be T.J. Henderson, Steven Gee, Elijah Sadler, Bob Caraker, Larry Jaymes and Ron Garner. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmi Baptist Children's Home.
