H.E. "Buck" Kroeger

H.E. "Buck" Kroeger, age 85 of Cobden, formerly of Anna, died Saturday, July 28, 2018 in the Union County Hospital. He was born March 27, 1933 in DuBois, the son of Ernest Edward and Lena Lenona (Dober) Kroeger. He married Carol Norris on September 6, 1953 in Old Du Quoin Baptist Church.Buck is survived by his wife, Carol Kroeger of Cobden; daughter, Susan (Steve) Farner of Marion; two grandchildren, Christopher (Jillian) Treece and Carly Barrick; one great grandson, Noah Treece; step great-grandchildren, Hunter Gibb, Sloane Swan and Stellan Swan; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Kenton Barrick; brother, Robert Kroeger; mother and father in law, John W. (Blanche) Norris.Buck was of the protestant faith. He worked several years in the heating and refrigeration maintenance department at the Southern Illinois University. He was a member of the Plumbers & Pipe fitters Local Union #160 in Murphysboro. He was also a member of the St. Louis Polka Club, (E.A.A.) Experimental Aircraft Association, the NRA and he had a private pilot's license. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.Funeral services for Buck Kroeger will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Les Sinks officiating. Interment will be in the Casper Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. and until the service hour at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions are asked to be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund. The family would like to send their heartfelt thanks to the Illinois Veteran's Home for their excellent care.
