Hattie Ruth Matlock

Hattie Ruth Matlock, age 76 of Cobden, died Thursday, May 20, 2021 at her home. She was born June 2, 1944 in Corpus Christi, TX, the daughter of Earl E. Sr. and Hattie Juanita (Anglin) Matlock. She was the middle of three children. Ruthie grew up and spent most of her life in Corpus Christi. After her father passed away, she and her mother lived with her uncle Ray Matlock until he was able to locate Hattie's family. She and her mother came to live in Illinois in 1984 with her mom's youngest brother Carmon Anglin. Ruthie worked at RAVE in the kitchen serving clients for several years while she lived at Spanish Oaks and Crossroads Shelter Care of Dongola. She loved collecting baby dolls and would give them baths every week and dress them up. Ruthie was always so kind and happy. ILS became her family and she loved them all very much. While at ILS she attended JRC workshop until she retired. Ruthie is survived by her cousins, Gloria (Bobby) Sivia of Anna, Lesa Doublin of Anna, Gene Anglin of Anna, Melissa Anglin of Dongola, Sharon Riley of Anna, Edward (Kim) Prater of Carbondale, Clyde (Anita) Prater of Dowel, and Glen (Jamie) of Cobden, and Kimberly (Kenny) Brame of Anna; other relatives and friends. Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James E. Matlock and Earl E. Matlock Jr.; maternal grandparents, Elmer and Marie (Bailey) Anglin; paternal grandparents, Edward and Lena Matlock. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the Rosehill Cemetery in Thebes with Jimmy Keller officiating. Interment will immediately follow. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery.
