Mr. Harry R. Stephens Jr. age 80 of Anna, formerly of East St. Louis, IL, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2011 at Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born July 2, 1930 in East St. Louis, IL, the son of Harry R. Sr. and Bridgett Ann Erwin Stephens.Harry is survived by one daughter, Valerie Matthews of Carbondale; five grandchildren, William Stephens, Marranda Stephens, Mary Yates, Silvana Tostada and Dakota Tostada; one great grandchild, Steven Leighton; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Marcia Craig; and one sister, Marcia Stephens. Harry served in the U.S. Navy Reserves as a first class equipment operator, and retired as a welder from Granite City Steel Company. He was a former member of the NRA and the Moose Lodge #4 in East St. Louis, IL. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball and soccer in Fairmont City. Funeral services for Mr. Harry R. Stephens Jr. will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor Andy Lee officiating. Interment will be in the Mound City National Cemetery in Mounds. Military honors will be conducted by the Illinois National Guard Military Funeral Honors team in Marion and area veterans.
