Harry Johnson, age 85 of Anna, died Thursday, November 29, 2018 in the Integrity Healthcare in Anna. He was born October 15, 1933 in Union County, the son of Thomas Jefferson and Blanch (Wildy) Johnson. He married Peggy Murphy on September 2, 1952 in Piggott, AR. Harry is survived by his adoring wife, Peggy Johnson of Anna; three daughters, Denise (Larry) Willis of Buncombe, Kelly (Gene) Murphy of Cape Girardeau, MO, Kimberly (Brad) Spring of Grand Tower; grandchildren, including two very special granddaughters, Heather Wright (Todd Brown), Aleshia Wright, Kyle E. Willis, Jared Johnson and Amy Toler, and Cole Halterman; sister in law, Claudia Johnson of Anna; many other relatives and friends. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother in law, Neda (Roy) Jackson, brother, Bill Johnson; and sister, Beatrice Johnson. Harry proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring after twenty years of service. He later worked as a deputy for the Union County Sherriff Department, was the Chief of Police for the Jonesboro Police Department and investigator for the Union County States Attorney. He was a life member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and a life member of the Fleet Reserve. Memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veteran's Home Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
