Harold F. Cross, age 93 of Anna, died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born April 5, 1924 in Creal Springs, the son of Ira and Carrie (Wiley) Cross. He married Lanita Jean Smith on September 3, 1949 in Piggott, AR. She preceded him in death April 3, 2016. Harold is survived by his son, Dana (Danette) Cross of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Adriel Cross and Elliott Cross; one great grandchild, Owen Cross; three sisters, Carmen (Harlan) Coffman of Jonesboro, Shirley Casper of Carbondale and Evalee (Tom) Harman of St. Louis, MO; other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lanita Jean Cross and one sister, Joyce Muldoon. Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded three purple hearts for wounds he received in action. Harold was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro and the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the VFW in Anna. Harold worked many years for the City of Anna and later was a truck driver. Funeral services for Harold F. Cross will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. and until the service hour at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Memorial contributions may be made to Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
