Guadalupe Lopez Granillo

Guadalupe Lopez Granillo, age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in Carbondale, Illinois. He was born on November 17, 1939, in his beloved hometown of Sandias, Tepehuanes, Durango, Mexico, the eldest son of Vidal and Maria (Granillo) Lopez.

Guadalupe is survived by his children, Pastor Lupe (Yadira) Lopez, Luciano (Brittany) Lopez, Nicholas (Becky) Lopez, Walter (Toni) Simmons, and Donna Tritsarolis; grandchildren, Chrissy, Mahi, Walter, Kayla, Raven, Jacob, Mateo, Ezra, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Isabel, Esperanza, and Elias; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Baltazar, Socorro, Ma. de Jesus, Ma. de la Luz, Ezequiel, and Juan; the mother of his children and lifelong close friend, Vickie; along with many other relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, his son-in-law Pete Tritsarolis, and other loved ones who have gone before him.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Anna First Baptist Church, with Pastor Lupe Lopez officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the service hour at the church.

Following the service, Guadalupe's final journey will continue to his hometown of Sandias, Durango, Mexico, where he will be laid to rest. A service in Mexico will be officiated by Rev. Miguel Ángel Ortiz, Pastor of Iglesia Casa De Gracia, Santiago Papasquiaro.
