Gladys Evelyn Cast

     Gladys Evelyn (Buttry) Cast came into this world as humbly as she lived being delivered by Granny Powell in Charleston, MO. She was Born April 8, 1951, the middle daughter of the late William “Willie” and Bessy (Wyatt) Buttry. Gladys departed for her Heavenly home on Saturday, September 26, 2026 surrounded by her loving family at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO.

     Gladys held many titles over the years, but the best ones were being a mom, Nana and sister. If you asked her, she would gladly tell you about her family. She was so proud of her grandbabies, they truly were her greatest accomplishments. She never met a stranger. She always had a smile on her face.

     Gladys married Nue Amos-Francis (Bud) Cast on June 7, 1961 in Charleston, MO. Together they would make a home they cherished in Alto Pass. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2008. Mom, Momma, Nana, Aunt Gladys was a soft spoken, mild mannered, kind and loving person with a true heart of gold. She gave the best hugs and kisses on the cheek.

     Gladys led her family with a quiet strength anchored in faith, love, and humility. She attended The Full Gospel Pentecostal Church in Alto Pass for many years. She considered her church members as her family and cherished every one of them.

     The sweetest mother to one son Buddy (Melody) Cast of Cobden, IL and one daughter Pamela "Pam" “Pammy” (Jerimy) Morehead of Charleston, MO; loving Nana of Beau Brenden Allen Aden and Brayden Hunter Amos Cast, of Charleston, MO, Tabitha (James Pyle) Cast of Percy, IL., Brooklyn (Brady) Reynolds of Cobden, IL; one great-granddaughter, Brinnleigh Pyle of Percy IL; brothers, Charles Buttry, Tommy (Sandy) Buttry both of Sikeston, MO, Leroy Buttry of Michigan, and Larry Buttry of Charleston, MO; 2 bonus grandchildren, Isac and Ethan Schneider of Charleston MO, as well as many nieces and nephews whom loved their Aunt Gladys.

     She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; parents; mother and father-in-law; sisters, Bonnie Neal and Rosalie Cornwell; one son, Robert Dewyane Cast who was born sleeping; brothers, Ray and Billy Buttry; nephew Donnie Lynn Buttry; and beloved niece, Alisa Lynn (Cast) Wachsnicht.

     Without a doubt the gates of Heaven swung wide open when they saw Gladys running with her arms held high and completely healed. She will always be our Prettiest Star in the Sky!

     Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Billy Carter officiating. Interment will be in the Casper Cemetery in Anna. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. and until the service at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2026 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions are preferred to the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church in Alto Pass. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

As Gladys would have wanted, this will not be a day of great sorrow but rather a home going celebration… with great love the family asks as you prepare to attend services that you consider the colors of Red, Pink, and Purple for those were her favorite colors...but as she would humbly request for you to “come as you are!”
