Pastor Gilbert S. Gee, age 87 of Murphysboro, died at 12:44 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 in the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. He was born November 4, 1929 in West Memphis, AR, the son of Samuel and Naomi (Jaynes) Gee. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Nancy Gee of Murphysboro; daughter, Pat Vinson of Perry, FL, son, Donald Gee of Alto Pass, daughter, Denise Jones of Hernando, MS; one step daughter, Tanya (Dan) Dadosky of Milford, OH; grandchildren, Jennifer and John Windings, Keith Bittle, Brian (Courtney) Maxwell, Jessica and Joe Clarke, Isabelle and Sydney Dadosky, Rusty, Kimberli, Chip and Theresa Jones, great grandchildren, John Christopher (Alex) Windings, Caleb and Connor Windings, Zach Bittle, Kinsley and Addison Maxwell, Colin Edwards, Joshua, Aidan, Greyson and Hawk Jones, Tessa and David Binversie; great-great grandchildren, Josh, Matthew and Alexis Binversie; other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 50 years, Doris Stearns Gee; brothers, Eugene, Marvin and Orville Gee. Gilbert was a member of the Grand Tower 1st Baptist Church and also of the American Legion in Cobden. He worked as a teacher and pastor for sixty-one years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Grand Canyon College in Phoenix, AZ, a Masters from SIU and attended Seminary in Louisville, KY. Funeral services for Pastor Gilbert S. Gee will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 in the Congregational Church of Alto Pass with Pastor Steve Raglin officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Navy Funeral Honor Detail. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Alto Pass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alto Pass Cemetery Maintenance Fund. Envelopes will be available at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home of Alto Pass and at the church.
