Gerald D. Crowell, age 86 of Marion, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. He was born on August 27, 1938, in Union County, the son of George and Lucille (Doughty) Crowell. He married Jeanette Tripp on December 20, 1963, in Reynoldsville.
Gerald is survived by his wife Jeanette Crowell of Marion; daughter, Edrica Kimberly (Nathan) McDowell of Creal Springs; other relatives, friends and his grand dog, Powder. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Crowell.
Gerald honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany during most of his military service. While living in Union County, he attended the Gospel Assembly Church in Anna. He retired from Choate Mental Health and Development Center after 30 years. Gerald was a devoted family man. He enjoyed traveling and had a great sense of humor. Throughout the years, he was a great source of wisdom and advice for Edrica.
Funeral services for Gerald Crowell will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor Gaylen Holden officiating. Interment will follow in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11:30 am until the service time at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Graveside military honors will be conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the VFW and the Army Funeral Honors Team.
