Mr. Gene Adams, age 90 of Alto Pass, died at 3:00 a.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015 at his home. He was born November 8, 1924 in Cobden, the son of Rolla and Agnes Crowell Adams. He married Marjorie Adams on September 26, 1946 in Osceola, Arkansas. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Adams of Alto Pass; one daughter, Paula (Jim) Pich of Alto Pass; one grandson, Ethan (Cassidy) Hallesy of Collinsville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Geneva Granger, and Martha Furlow; and one brother, Charles Adams. Gene was of the Baptist faith. He retired in 1984 from the Illinois Central Railroad after thirty-four years in the Communication Department. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII stationed in the Philippines. He was a member of the American Legion, Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna, and the Veterans of Alto Pass. He helped establish the Veterans Memorial in Alto Pass and was a retired fire fighter with the Alto Pass Fire Department which he helped organize in 1973. Funeral services for Mr. Gene Adams will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Alto Pass with Rev. Davy Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Military Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Alto Pass.
