Gary L. Buckner

Mr. Gary L. Buckner, age 75 of Anna, died at 9:02 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2016 in the Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born March 5, 1941 in Aniston, Mo, the son Russell Tweedy and Louise (Black) Buckner. He married Patricia Bartsch on February 10, 1962 in Cobden. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2014. Gary is survived by his daughter, Suzanne (Carl) Dillow of Anna; son, Jay Buckner of Anna; grandchildren, Kristen (Chris) Hodges, Kasie (Robert) Craft, Chelsy Buckner, Brock (Alexa) Buckner, Kenzie Dillow, Brennan Buckner, and Ryan Buckner; great-grandchildren, Cash Hodges, Hunter Craft, Cobie Hodges and Hayden Craft; two step sisters, Ann Tweedy and Dawn (Mike) Blaise all of Murphysboro; sister in law, Sue (Bob) Overby of Clay, KY; close friend, Judy Goodman of Crainville; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Patricia Buckner. Gary was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anna. He worked many years as an insurance adjuster. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting and sports. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Funeral services for Mr. Gary L. Buckner will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Carl Dillow and Rev. Les Sinks officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
