Frederick L. Gates

Mr. Frederick L. Gates, age 93 of Anna, formerly of Springfield, died at 3:56 a.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015 in the Illinois Veteran's Home in Anna. He was born September 1, 1922 in Carrier Mills, the son of Walter R. and Blanche Probasco Gates. He married Charlene Wing on October 27, 1944 in Harrisburg. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2013. Frederick is survived by his two daughters, Pamela (Larry) Van Alstine of Chatham and Marilyn (Mike) Meisenheimer of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Lee (Christina) Van Alstine of Cape Girardeau, MO, Lindsay (Casey) Johnson, Lance (Danyelle) Meisenheimer all of Jonesboro; seven great grandchildren, Alexa, Madison, Kai, and Bryn Van Alstine, Landon and Reese Lofton, and Eva Meisenheimer; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlene Gates; and one sister, Mary Ann Dorrough. Frederick was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springfield. He was retired from the Insurance Industry as a Regional Sales Manager. He enjoyed woodworking in his free time. Graveside funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Girard Methodist Church in Girard, Illinois. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna and at the cemetery.
