Frankie E. Elkins

Mr. Frankie E. Elkins, age 85 of Jonesboro, died at 6:45 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2012 at his home in Jonesboro. He was born July 11, 1927 in Murphysboro, the son of Gusta and Maude Miller Elkins. He married Mary E. King on February 3, 1953 in Cobden. He is survived by his loving wife Mary E. Elkins of Jonesboro; one daughter, Marilyn (Norman) Dyer of Evans, Georgia; grandchildren, John Robert (Jenny) Dyer of Clyde, North Carolina, Norman Kelly (Mary) Dyer of Maryville, Tennessee, Jamie (Thomas) Wade of Evans, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Hollie, Teresa, and Julie; brother, Jake (Georgia) Elkins of Pitsburg, IL; sister, Betty Forby of Benton, IL, sisters in law, Ermadell Elkins, Geneva Jackson, Betty King and Laura Spiller all of Anna; brothers in law, Fred (Jean) King of Charlotte, MI and Richard (Tia) King of Jonesboro; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Clifford and Fred Elkins, sisters Myrtle Elkins Pender and Mabel Elkins; brothers in law, Roy King and Walter P. Jackson. Frankie was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Metropolis for many years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Frankie worked for 14 years as an operator and retired from Union Carbide in Paducah, Kentucky. Funeral services for Mr. Frankie E. Elkins will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Walter L. Jackson officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team in Marion.
