Francis Westbrooks, age 91 of Anna, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in the Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born February 24, 1926 in Cobden, the son of Francis Marion and Cora Ann (Lowery) Westbrooks. He married Barbara Louise Treece on November 29, 1947 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden. She preceded him in death on January 12, 2018. Francis is survived by his two sons, Hugh M. (Elaine) Westbrooks of Greenville and Mark (Mara) Westbrooks of Eldorado; seven grandchildren, Michael T. (Ashley S.) Westbrooks, Jacob (Jen) Westbrooks, Stephanie (Adam) Mummert, Ashley L. (Dustin) West, Matthew (Christina) Westbrooks, Preston (Melisa) Gross, and Shelby Westbrooks; eleven great-grandchildren; former daughter in law, Mary Ann (Bill) Bowen of Jonesboro; many nieces and nephews, and a special thank you to Lydia (Jeff) Williams and grandson, Matt Westbrooks for their care in his final days; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of seventy years, Barbara Louise Westbrooks; son, Stephen Westbrooks; granddaughter, Elizabeth Westbrooks; three brothers and five sisters. Francis was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anna for many years. He owned and operated Advance Furnace Company in Mounds until his retirement. Francis served his country in the United States Navy during WWII from 1944 to 1946. He was extremely proud of his service and was honored to serve. He was a life member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna. Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 in the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anna with Father Federico Higuera officiating. Interment will be in the Casper Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Navy Funeral Honor Team. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. and until the service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the church and the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
