Floyd Ray Hinkle

    Floyd Ray Hinkle, age 83 of Harvel, died Monday, September 7, 2026 at St. Louis University Hospital. He was born December 20, 1942 in Carbondale, the son of Floyd Marshall and Marjorie (Brewer) Hinkle.

    Floyd is survived by two daughters, Dashawna (Ronald) Leggans and Ladena (Kirt) Hoelzel; son, Letrevis Hinkle and his significant other, Stacy Edwards; thirteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two brothers, Carl D. Hinkle, Jerry (Deanie) Hinkle; sister, Shirley (Elbert) Clardy; Aunt Ethel and Aunt Lois; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Robin Hinkle and Carlena Eggers; son, Floyd Darren Ray Hinkle; one grandchild; sister, Sharon Gibson; and sister-in-law, Lena Hinkle.

    Floyd was of Pentecostal faith; he loved the Lord. Floyd used his musical talents to play guitar at churches and community events with his bluegrass and gospel band. He spent his working life as a coal miner and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He loved tending to his garden and growing vegetables. He looked forward to sharing morning coffee with his son-in-law, Ronald, on the back porch every morning and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.

    Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2026 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Interment will follow in the Anna Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the service hour at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Rendleman and Hileman Funeral home to assist with expenses.
