Floyd Richard Dallas, 91, of Anna, passed away on December 13th at his home. Floyd was born on September 8, 1932 in Anna, the son of Elbert and Hazel Carter Dallas of Jonesboro. He married Edna Clayton on April 8, 1952 in Jonesboro. She preceded him in death on August 8, 2022.

Floyd is survived by three children; Mel (Gail) Dallas of Indianapolis, Indiana; Carter Dallas of Anna; Gwen (J.D.) Tripp of Anna; grandchildren, Brandy (Patrick) Leary of Overland Park, Kansas; Clark Dallas of Austin, Texas; Britton Dallas of Lockport, Illinois; Alyssa (Chris) Solomon of Cobden, Jaryt Tripp, of Anna, great grandchildren, Morgan (Matt) Bodnar, Jack, Ryan, & Amanda Leary; cherished friend Mary Lou Wright, other special relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Edna Dallas, as well as his parents; brothers, William (Tressie) Dallas and Carl (Lucille) Dallas, infant sister, and dear friend, Gene Wright.

Floyd was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro for 69 years. He loved the Lord and studied His word daily. Floyd was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His family was blessed by his example of extraordinary Christian faith, generosity, and strong character. He loved, and prayed for, his family fiercely. He and Edna's words, "love and prayers", were written on every card they ever sent.

Floyd enlisted in the Army after graduating from high school and served in the Korean war as a radio operator. He had many jobs after his discharge, but his mathematical aptitude led him into accounting. He owned and operated Whitney Accounting in Anna for over 30 years.

Floyd had an amazing life, and his stories are legendary. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling and golfing. He and Edna often traveled to Gatlinburg to attend their favorite dinner shows. He and his friend, Gene Wright, spent countless hours on the golf course. More recently, Floyd enjoyed watching football and always had a Sudoku puzzle nearby. He was a beloved papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren; tirelessly supporting and cheering for them in all their endeavors. He also enjoyed spending time worshiping with his church family.

Funeral services for Floyd Dallas will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor Doug Bridgeman officiating. Interment will follow at Anna Cemetery. Friends may gather from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, envelopes will be available at the funeral home. His family expressed sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff of Hospice for the excellent care they provided to their precious father and papa during his illness.
