Fern Isabelle Grey

Mrs. Fern Isabelle Grey, age 86 of Anna, died at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at her home. She was born February 27, 1929 in Marion, the daughter of Charles and Susan Isabelle Graves Foster. She married Beryl S. Grey on March 10, 1946 in Anna. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1992. Fern was a member of the Eastern Star, enjoyed embroidering, She loved to bake for family and friends and was famous for her pies. Fern was a very nurturing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Everyone who met Fern enjoyed her pleasing smile and her attitude toward life- her cup was always half full. She was always ready for a new adventure and always eager to travel, ready to go on a whim. She loved life, her children, her dogs, and the Lord. She will be remembered for her traits and her love, nurturing and encouragement. She is dearly missed but warmly remembered. Fern is survived by her children, William Randall (Peggy) Grey of Severn, MD, Jan Grey of Anna, Dr. Pamela Bartels-Routh (Frank) Routh of Marion, N.C., and David (Gena) Grey of Anna; daughter in law, Sherry Grey of Ashville, N.C.; grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Grey, Mark Edward Grey, Stephen Mark (Kiersten) Grey, Jeffery Daniel (Paula) Grey, Jessica (Brian) Laggis, Bryan Bartels, Bella Grey, Poppy Grey, Paul and wife Marlena, and Doug; ten great-grandchildren; and sister in law, Jeanie Jackson of Marion. Fern was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Beryl S. Grey; and son, Steve Grey. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna. Interment will be in the Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 12:00 and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to PAWS or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna and at the church.
