Evelyn L. Merk

Mrs. Evelyn L. Merk, age 87 of Jonesboro, died at 10:48 a.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014 in Delmar Gardens North in Florissant, MO. She was born October 19, 1926, in Jonesboro, the daughter of Bert Ervin and Eualia Goot Turner. She married Joseph M. Merk on August 10, 1947 in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2011. Evelyn is survived by her children, Martha (Anthony) Lococo of Florissant, MO, John (Patricia) Merk of Fayette, MO, Jane (Michael) Leavitt of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Williams, Andrew (Pam) Lococo, Krista (James) Evans, Michelle Merk; six great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Joseph M. Merk. Evelyn worked many years as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Nurses Association and was active in pro-life activist events. Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn L. Merk will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Scott Harner officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
