Mrs. Ethel Mae Blunt, age 88 of Cobden, died at 6:46 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 in Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was born June 2, 1927 in Cobden, the daughter of Fred and Mae (Hodges) Flamm. She married Harold L. "Bud" Blunt Sr. on October 28, 1958 in Cobden. He preceded her in death in August 1972. Ethel Mae is survived by her four sons, Doug (Melody) Meadows of Anna, Chuck (Charlotte) Meadows of Cobden, Harold Blunt Jr. of Blue Springs, MO, and Scott (Michele) Blunt of Lynn Haven, FL.; eleven grandchildren, Mike Graham of Panama City Beach, FL, Don Graham of Bakersfield, CA, Richard (Jennifer) Graham of Parker, CO, Mary Meadows, Douglas Meadows II both of Cobden, Rhondalynn (Ken) Rushing of Russiaville, IN, Jeff Meadows, Le Clark, Serenity Meadows all of Cobden, and Aaron Blunt of Blue Springs, MO, Xander Blunt of Lynn Haven, FL.; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Virginia) Flamm of Cobden; one sister, Marlene Rich of Marion; many loved nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold L. "Bud" Blunt Sr.; daughter, Janis Graham; sister, Audrey Ann Vitt; and two brothers in law, John Vitt Sr. and Gordon Rich. Ethel Mae was a faithful member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden, she served as church trustee for many years and was a member of the Ladies Sodality group. She was a dedicated military wife to her husband Harold during his military career, traveling extensively. She enjoyed crocheting and painting; but above all loved spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral mass for Mrs. Ethel Mae Blunt will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden with Father Federico Higuera and Father Uriel Salamanca officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Cobden. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016, the Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m., friends may also call from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
