Esther Mae Barker

     Esther Mae Barker, age 81 of Anna, died Thursday, January 22, 2026 at home with her family. She was born August 9, 1944 in Alto Pass, the daughter of Melvin Levi and Estella Alma (Fox) Tellor. She married Carroll “Sonny” Barker on January 21, 1972. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2007.

     Esther is survived by her son, Anthony (Hannah) Barker of Anna; four grandchildren, Dylan (Meranda) Barker, Justin (Emmelie) Barker, Garrett (Hannah) Barker, and Seth Barker; three great grandchildren, Alistair, Cooper and Arthur Barker; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sonny Barker; son, Robert Barker; and numerous brothers and sisters.

     Esther worked at Florsheim Shoe Factory in Anna for twenty-eight years and later worked at Union County Hospital for twenty-four years until her retirement. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren.

     Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2026 at the Alto Pass Cemetery. Interment will immediately follow. Those attending are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
