Ernest L. Boyd

Mr. Ernest L. Boyd, age 88 of Anna, died at 5:41 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 in the Anna Rehab and Nursing Center. He was born June 25, 1925 in Anna, the son of Earl and Carrie Nimmo Boyd. He married Virginia Boyer on October 5, 1945. Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Boyd of Anna; two daughters, Karen (Ken) Hight of Anna, Beverly Boyd of Anna; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Todd) Hawk, Kenny (Lacey) Hight, Kendra (Rodney) Scip; seven great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Wayne and Don Boyd. Ernest was a faithful member of the Anna First Baptist Church and served as Deacon for forty-six years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. For most of his life, Ernest worked as a fruit farmer in Union County Funeral services for Mr. Ernest L. Boyd will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Les Sinks and Rev. Todd Hawk officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Illinois Army National Guard Military Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmi Baptist Children's Home.
