Edna R. Poole, age 91, died January 6, 2021 in Carbondale, IL. She was born December 4, 1929 to Ford & Anna (Hubach) Cates. Edna married Norbert Leo Basler on July 16, 1948. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1982. On December 8, 1991, Edna married Donald Poole. He went to meet the Lord on September 22, 2017.Edna was a homemaker and farmer's wife for many years. She was also employed at Tripp Shelter Care in Cobden, IL as an Activity Director for several years. She worked for a short time at Florsheim Shoe Factory in Anna, IL and later was employed at Anna City Care Nursing Home as a CNA. After moving to East Cape with her husband, Donald Poole, Edna became a seamstress for many people in that area and also in Cape Girardeau, MO.Survivors include one son, Douglas (Kathy) Basler and three daughters; Donna (Larry) Mahan, Diann Boyer, and Cindy (Steve) Pryor; seven grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Edna is also survived by one sister, Ginny (Charles) Stephenson and three brothers, Gaylon (Clara) Cates, Ed (Carolyn) Cates, and Homer Cates. She was predeceased by her parents; one sister, Helen Treece; and four brothers, Floyd Cates, Donald Cates, Charles Cates, and Robert Cates.Edna trusted in the Lord early in life and was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was very active in the church for many years and also sang in the choir. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, and playing the piano for her own enjoyment.Funeral arrangements are pending at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
