Eddie L Phillips

Mr. Eddie Lee Phillips, age 81 of Anna, died at 8:34 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2014 in Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born November 12, 1932 in Salem, the son of Frank and Edith Phillips. He married Jean C. Childers on August 26, 1978, in Anna. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2007. Eddie is survived by his step-daughter, Janie Meirndorf of Anna; grandchildren, Jon (Jacqueline) Meirndorf, Josh Meirndorf, Jennifer (Russell) Burgess; great grandchildren, Joshua, Lilly, Kimber, and Merric Meirndorf; sisters in law, Linda (Bob) Hill, Dee (Charles) Langford all of Cobden; nephews, Brian (Vonda) Hill of Jonesboro, Gary (Kathy) Phillips of Mt. Vernon; nieces, Denise Craig of Anna, Julie (Kurt) Marteney of Silver Springs, Maryland; great niece, Jessica Deitch of Carbondale; great nephew, Tony Phillips of Mt. Vernon; many other nieces and nephews; other relatives; and his many friends and loving family at the Illinois Veteran's Home, where he had lived the last four years. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jean C. Phillips. Eddie was retired from S.I.U. after many years working in the Physical Plant. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy Seabees and was a member of the Carpenters Union. Funeral services for Mr. Eddie Lee Phillips will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor Paul Tirey officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Navy Funeral Honors Detail from St. Louis, MO. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veteran's Home in Anna Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
