Dorris Lee Barnhart, age 75 of Jonesboro, died Saturday, October 3, 2020 at his home in rural Jonesboro. He was born December 12, 1944, the son of Wilborn and Mildred Leona (Hileman) Barnhart. Dorris and Andrea "Ann" (Halterman) Barnhart were married July 11, 1970 and shared 50 years of marriage, raising their family. Dorris worked for more than 30 years for Lewis Bros. Bakery in Anna, IL while farming and volunteering with the MCML 4-H Club. He helped his kids along with many others with numerous 4-H Animal Projects. He served 2 years in the Army during the Vietnam conflict, spending 11 months in Vietnam. He spent the last 14 years as a disabled veteran, but was surprisingly active with other activities. He loved doing parades of all kinds with his kids, grandkids, and others that were involved in 4-H and other activities. Usually driving his truck or tractor to pull wagons or floats loaded with kids and loving every minute. He is survived by his wife, Andrea "Ann" Barnhart of Jonesboro; children, Lori (Mark) Bowyer of Bridgeport, Jonathan Barnhart of Jonesboro, Daryl (Amanda) Barnhart of Jonesboro, Alana (Scott) Links of Streetsboro, OH, Sara (Tyler) Hess of Cobden, and Evan (Sky) Barnhart of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Caitlyn (Luke) McGill, Cara Bowyer, Sophie Barnhart, Mackenzie Barnhart, Colton Barnhart, Victor Links, Gavin Links, Liam Hess, Holden Hess, Ryley Nance, and Kooper Barnhart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilborn and Mildred Leona Barnhart and his father and mother-in- law, Paul and Mildred Halterman. He will be missed by friends and family alike. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2020 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Brent Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. All those attending will be required to wear a face covering and observe social distancing guidelines. Maximum occupancy of the building will be kept to 50 people at a time. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
